STAMFORD, Conn. (ABC22/FOX44) - Police in Stamford said that a man wanted after reportedly fleeing and avoiding capture in both Vermont and Massachusetts has been taken into custody.
Mason Payne, 23, was first sought in connection with a "violent domestic dispute" in Dover, Vermont. According to police reports, he then was stopped by a Massachusetts state trooper on Interstate 91 in Holyoke but fled from the scene, reportedly dragging the trooper several feet.
Stamford police received a tip that Payne might be hiding at the Red Carpet Inn in Stamford and say they arrested him without incident at the hotel at about 5:00 p.m., recovering two firearms in the process.
