SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (WMC) - The Southaven Police Department says that an isolated shooting in a local subdivision Wednesday has left one person with serious injuries.

Police add that a person of interest, who has not been identified, is detained.

Officers received the call from an address along Burton Lane, located in a neighborhood in the area of U.S. Highway 51 and Church Road West.

The victim was rushed to Regional One Hospital in Memphis for treatment.

SPD reports that this was an “isolated” incident.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public and this remains an active scene,” the department said in a Facebook post. “We ask that you stay out of the area for the time being.”
