After a college career rife with injury, Oregon State linebacker Makiya Tongue announced his medical retirement from football on Wednesday evening.

Tongue, a redshirt senior, said he suffered a fourth season ending knee injury in five years during OSU fall camp.

“I’ve given my all to this game both mentally and physically, but to be real I’m exhausted,” Tongue wrote in a post on Instagram. “I am grateful for all this game has given me, but I feel that God has better plans for me and I am ready for the next chapter of my life.”
