A motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast Portland crash, police said.

Portland police officers responded to the crash shortly after 4 p.m. on Northeast Marine Drive at 158th Avenue.

Despite life-saving efforts, police said the motorcyclist, who was not identified, died at the scene. It’s not clear what caused the crash; police said only that it involved a car.

Northeast Marine Drive is closed from Northeast 148th Avenue to 185th Drive as police investigate the crash.

The rider’s death is the 23rd traffic fatality in Portland this year and the sixth involving a motorcyclist, said Sgt. Kevin Allen, a police spokesperson.
