MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The former Director of the Mobile Housing Authority spoke publicly for the first time since being fired.

Michael Pierce was let go in early July after complaints were filed about housing conditions, as the Housing Authority closed a number of housing projects over the last five years

Pierce now claims that Mayor Sandy Stimpson unethically conspired to arrange his firing and meddled in the management of the federally funded housing authority, by appointing new board members who all voted to fire him.

The Chairman of the Mobile Housing Authority, William Ray, said that Pierce's claims are not true and take attention away from the work that needs to be done.

He released a statement on the matter:
