Five volunteer firefighters in Allegheny County were suspended after being accused of responding to an emergency call while under the influence of alcohol.
The Undercliff Volunteer Fire Company members were involved in an investigation that came after an Aug. 2 call on East Genesee Avenue for smoke in the area, according to WTAE .
The emergency call was a false alarm, but a “concerned citizen” filed a complaint with Shaler Township about the five firefighters’ behavior, ultimately leading to the investigation.
A source told CBS News the firefighters might have been drinking at a nearby bar before receiving the call.
All five members were initially suspended. On Wednesday the fire company said three firefighters will remain suspended while one was reinstated and another resigned.
