BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Point Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating three separate fights at Livonia High School, each one occurring on the first three days of the new school year.

Sheriff Rene’ Thibodeaux said the incidents have raised serious concerns about student safety.

“It’s very sad,” Thibodeaux said.

According to investigators, fights broke out on Friday (Aug. 15), Monday (Aug. 18), and Tuesday (Aug. 19). The most recent incident on Tuesday left a student hospitalized with a possible broken nose, stitches, and two broken teeth.

The fight on Monday could result in criminal charges after a student was possibly stabbed twice near the back of the head with a pencil, Thibodeaux said. At least four students are expected to be arrested, and additional charges could com
