Unorthodox sports tourism, such as the championship level disc golf courses in and around the city, is already a big part of Morristown’s economy, so it’s not surprising that the Morristown City Council continued to show support for in-demand pastimes at their meeting on Tuesday.

The City Council passed a resolution authorizing a grant application to help develop a new pickleball complex at Frank Lorino Park.

“We would like to pursue a Tourism Enhancement Grant through the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development for funding to support our pickleball project at Frank Lorino Park,” City Administrator Andrew Ellard said. “The maximum grant is for $100,000 with a 10% local match.
