What is Ragweed?
Ragweed is a common weed in the United States, more concentrated in the Midwestern and eastern states. Up to a billion pollen grains can be produced from a single plant. A ragweed plant only lasts one season, but because it produces so many grains and grains travel hundreds of miles, it irritates a lot of allergy sufferers.
When is Ragweed Season?
Ragweed starts to increase by mid to late August in eastern Oklahoma. The peak of pollen usually occurs in the first several weeks of September, but pollen numbers can remain elevated through October.
How Does the Weather Impact Ragweed?
