PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Public Schools and city leaders proudly commemorated the opening of the Glen Barton School on Wednesday morning at the Old Quest Charter building.
The school was named for Glen Barton, a former Caterpillar executive who was a frequent donor in the community and was the driving force behind the founding of Quest Charter.
Three specialized pathways will be housed in the school: the Peoria Adult Transition Academy, Rise Academy, and day treatment for students ages five through 22.
District officials, like Peoria Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat, hope these programs will help students thrive academically, grow socially and emotionally, and develop essential life skills.
