It's going to be a beautiful weekend to stay out of the water. While it may be tempting for some to go for a swim or catch a wave -- especially with the anticipated return of summer temperatures -- officials are warning that rip currents caused by Hurricane Erin through Sunday will be no joke.

The risk is moderate today with 3- to 6-foot waves and gusts of wind up to 30 mph. These will both intensify as we approach Friday and as the storm nears New England .

Hurricane Erin is still expected to pass us by a few hundred miles, but its effects will be felt nonetheless along the Massachusetts coastline.
