Fear is one of the six basic human emotions that had and still has various functions, such as keeping us safe by activating one of the four responses which include fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. There are times when we need it, while other times it might be over the top or out of place and we can make a choice to train ourselves and regulate it. Either way, experiencing fear tends to remind us of our vulnerability and mortality and thus in turn the fact that we are indeed still alive and breathing.
