Plans have been submitted for 16 caravans to remain at an existing Traveller site in Kent . Frank Mongen, who lives on the Hartlip site in Spade Lane, has applied to retain eight plots, each containing two mobile homes and two touring caravans.
Permission to house the caravans was allowed on appeal by a government planning inspector in June 2022. It allowed the Traveller families to remain on the site, between Sittingbourne and Rainham, for a period of three years which has since expired in June this year.
The new application seeks a resubmission of the previous temporary permission but on a permanent basis. The proposal would provide for eight plots which would each contain two static mobile homes, two touring caravans and a day room.
