CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - At the end of a three-daylong trial, a man convicted of killing a teenager learned just how long he will spend behind bars.

Javeon Breon Kayshard Campbell, 22, of Charleston, was given the maximum penalty and sentenced to life in prison for both having a weapon while committing a violent crime and the murder of 17-year-old Charrod Phillips.

A Charleston County jury found Campbell guilty of both crimes Wednesday afternoon.

Phillips died June 29, 2022 when Campbell reportedly entered the Cheap Way gas station on Dorchester Road and shot him.
