DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Education says its spring 2025 assessment results reveal notable improvements in student achievement across most grade levels in English language arts (ELA) and science, according to the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP).

However, high school math proficiency still trails behind.

The latest ISASP results show ELA proficiency rates between 68 and 80 percent and math proficiency from 64 to 76 percent. Science proficiency ranged from 64 to 70 percent. ELA proficiency for last year’s third graders increased by 11 percentage points.
