GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KNOP) - A New Mexico woman wanted by Texas law enforcement was arrested in Grand Island last week in connection to a string of burglaries in western Nebraska, and the main suspect has yet to be found.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, Darla Smith, 33, was stopped by police on Aug. 13 with a stolen vehicle and gave a false name to officers.
Police said her vehicle contained multiple firearms, ammunition and burglary tools including DeWalt, Milwaukee, Stihl and ECHO equipment that were linked to additional burglary crimes.
Smith was taken into custody and is currently lodged at the Hall County Department of Corrections. She is being held on a 10% of $50,000 bond for stolen property, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, false reporting and othe
