A 17-year-old who planned a terror attack at a mosque in a Scottish town has been detained for ten years.

The teen, who was inspired by Hitler, Mussolini and Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik, was intending to set fire to the Inverclyde Muslim Centre on Laird Street in Greenock.

He went so far as to befriend the Imam and map out the building’s interior on his phone.

Police apprehended the youth in January after he tried to gain entry to the building.

He was carrying a camouflage military-style rucksack, inside which was a German-manufactured Glock-type air pistol, ammunition, ball bearings, gas cartridges and aerosol cans.
