More than 400 Indiana National Guard soldiers are back home after being mobilized for nearly a year.
The National Guard troops from the 38th Infantry Division landed at Indianapolis International Airport on Wednesday to cheering crowds, grateful family members and applause.
The troops were part of approximately 600 division soldiers who left Indiana in September 2024 to support Operation Spartan Shield in the Middle East. The U.S. operation was intended to strengthen defense relationships and build partner capacity through leader engagements, multinational exercises and response planning.
