HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - An officer with the Huntersville Police Department died this week after a nearly two-year battle with a rare form of cancer.

William “Bill” Broadway died after receiving a life-altering diagnosis in December 2023: Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma, a bile duct cancer.

He leaves behind his wife, Sarah, and 8-year-old son, Declan.

“Bill was more than a police officer,” a police spokesperson wrote . “He poured his heart into his family, and the love he had for them was evident in every part of his life.”

For over eight years, Broadway served as a police officer for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Huntersville Police Departments.
