LAPORTE — A South Haven man who pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of crash last year that resulted in the death of a pedestrian was sentenced Thursday to four years behind bars, according to the LaPorte County prosecutor's office.

Troy Slack was sentenced to five years in prison with one year suspended and to be served on probation.

Slack was 48 when, on April 22, 2024 , he struck and killed Keith Eastwood, 66, of Michigan City, in the 11000 block of West U.S. 6 in New Durham Township.

An autopsy revealed Eastwood died as a result of blunt force trauma, LaPorte County Coroner Lynn Swanson said at the time.

Police said they determined Eastwood was struck by a westbound vehicle and using a mirror left behind, determined the vehicle was a 2007-2014 GMC product.
