CLEVELAND, Ohio — Five takeaways from the Guardians ’ three-game series against Arizona in which they went 1-2.
Parker Messick’s big-league debut on Wednesday may have been the most impressive by a Cleveland pitcher since Danny Salazar’s on July 11, 2013. Messick went 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out six and walked one on 83 pitches. Salazar allowed one run on two hits in six innings against Toronto. He struck out seven and walked one on 89 pitches, several of them hitting 99 mph.
