The Sylvan Lake Community Food Bank needs some supplies.

With the school year approaching, there is always a need for school lunch items.

Items the food bank is in need of include:

- Cereals

- Canned tomatoes

- Canned tuna

- Soda crackers

- Canned fruit

- Canned corn

- Small peanut butters

- Jams

- Kid snacks

- KD

- Mushroom and tomato soups

While summer months are generally a bit slower, the food bank has remained busy, food bank director Janet Griffith said.

"We have seen an increase in new clients to the tune of about 30 per cent on some days. We can expect an increase in the coming weeks as schools start."

Individuals interested in donating food to the food bank can bring donations directly to the food bank on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
