CAIRO, Ga. (WCTV) - The City Clerk of Cairo has received ethics complaints against three Cairo council members, including Mayor Edgar Robinson, Charles Renaud and Demario Byrden, according to city attorney William Bass, Jr.
The city attorney confirmed in a statement to WCTV Thursday that the complaints were received from “members of the public.”
As of Thursday afternoon, WCTV has only obtained a letter titled “Ethics Complaint Submission” filed against Councilman Renaud. It’s unclear what the complaint against Mayor Robinson and Councilman Byrden involves.
But, Councilman Byrden wrote in a statement Thursday the following:
Those complaints are now under review by the city’s three-member Board of Ethics.
