GRESHAM Ore. (KPTV) - After a “marathon mediation session” between the nurses’ union at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center and Legacy Health, the parties have reached a tentative agreement, the Oregon Nurses Association said on Saturday.

The nurses and the hospital are working to negotiate their first contract after the nurses voted to join ONA in April 2023.

On Aug. 16, ONA announced that the registered nurses at Legacy had voted to authorize a strike. They did not yet have a strike date , and said mediation sessions were still scheduled for later in the month.

According to ONA on Saturday, the tentative agreement will next need to be ratified by the 440 RNs who work at the hospital. If fully approved, the agreement would avert a strike from happening.
