Sonny Gray may be as disappointed as anyone that Thursday's Cardinals game against the Rays isn't being played in Tampa Bay's usual home ballpark.

Gray and the Cardinals start a four-day, three-game series against the Rays at 6:35 p.m. (St. Louis time) on Thursday night.

The Rays are playing this season at Steinbrenner Field, a minor league park, after Tropicana Field suffered hurricane damage to its roof last fall.

For Gray, who has struggled on many hot, humid St. Louis nights this summer, that could be a problem. Instead of the 72-degree temperature in the indoor environs of Tropicana Field, the heat index Thursday at Steinbrenner field is expected to be near 100 degrees at first pitch and remain in the mid-90s for all of Gray's outing.
