SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Thursday, August 21, South Dakota Public Broadcasting Executive Director Julie Overgaard announced multiple cuts to programs and staffing due to federal funding cuts.

The layoffs will impact 15 SDPB employees, affecting various programs and services.

Key changes include the elimination of the radio program “In the Moment,” the TV program “South Dakota Focus,” and reducing the output of “Dakota Life,” along with cuts to educational resources and several support positions.

In addition to the layoffs, five open positions will remain unfilled, representing a 25% decrease in SDPB’s workforce.

Layoffs are expected to take effect on Friday, October 31.
