GARDINER, Maine (WABI) - For decades, a couple of cookbooks have been a staple in Maine homes.
One is yellow or a marigold color and the other is green.
WABI went to Gardiner to learn more about Maine’s Julia Child and why the Gardiner Public Library is preserving her legacy in the kitchen.
Marjorie Standish, a Brunswick native is well known for her iconic cookbooks.
“It was a New England, it was a Maine standard and not only did everybody have them and they were so important, and they were critical in every kitchen and on every bookshelf, but that she lived in Gardiner and wrote her columns that became the cookbooks,” said Dawn Thistle, the library director at Gardiner Public Library.
