In what one lawyer called a "slap in the face," the families of two students killed in the 2021 Oxford High School mass shooting each have accepted a $500,000 settlement offer from the school district to resolve their prior federal lawsuits that were dismissed.

Turns out, before those suits were dismissed, two families had accepted settlement offers from the district, which is now making good on the deals and preparing to disperse the money, lawyers said.
