ENDWELL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - Today is National Senior Citizen's Day, and residents of the Broome West Senior Center celebrated with a special lunch and some big news.

The Broome County Office for Aging announced upgrades at Broome West, including new kitchen appliances, a stackable washer and dryer, along with new exercise equipment.

The upgrades were completed as part of a $50k grant secured by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo. The grant also helped pay for laptops, educational classes, and respite programming for center participants.

Lupardo says she recently turned 71 and is happy to help senior citizens in New York.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says, "National Senior Citizens Day. Now, you know I have a personal stake in this matter. Whenever you say older New Yorkers."
