LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Thursday State Representatives Laurie Pohutsky (D-Livonia) and Tyrone Carter (D-Detroit) introduced legislation that would prohibit the deployment of an armed military force into the state without the approval of the Governor, or a valid order from the President.

Rep. Pohutsky and Rep. Carter say this introduction comes on the heels of President Donald Trump placing police in Washington D.C. under federal control and activating the National Guard.

“Our country is experiencing a constitutional crisis, spurred by the lawless actions of the United States chief executive and emboldened by federal congressional republicans [who] refuse to act,” Rep. Pohutsky said.
