ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Construction is underway of a new protected cycletrack on Convention Plaza in downtown St. Louis.
That cycletrack will connect to the completed project on 7th Street and continue up to 4th Street.
Scott Ogilvie with the city’s planning and urban design agency said concrete bump-outs are added to protect cyclists and shorten the distance pedestrians are exposed when crossing the street.
“Taking some of the streets that have excessive speeding or safety issues and making improvements,” Ogilvie said.
Street improvements are also being added on Broadway Avenue, including lane reductions and bump-outs
Ogilvie said 4th Street and Washington Avenue will get similar improvements next year.
