Sudbury’s annual film festival has announced its full lineup, including several gala presentations that had not been previously revealed.

The 37th edition of Cinefest runs Sept. 13-21, kicking off with a screening of the Canadian mockumentary Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie.

This first gala, showing at 7 p.m. on opening night, is directed by Matt Johnson and earned an audience award at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year.

“When their plan to book a show at the Rivoli goes horribly wrong, Matt and Jay accidentally travel back to the year 2008,” reads a synopsis of the movie.

The film will screen at SilverCity, with a reception to follow at Place des Arts.
