EUGENE — On paper, Oregon’s cornerbacks are the most talented and deepest they’ve been in Dan Lanning’s four years — at the very least, if not far longer.
Last year, the Ducks were one of the most disruptive pass defenses in the country and ranked in the top 25 in passing yards allowed per game despite a secondary whose top six players were all under 6-foot tall, none of whom were drafted.
Height in the defensive backfield is no longer an issue for No. 7 Oregon, which has a cornerback group exclusively of players 5-foot-11 and taller this season.
“We have guys that we think fit the profile of what we want: height, weight and speed,” secondary coach Chris Hampton said. “We definitely look the part.”
