Four London men are facing charges and police are searching for a fifth suspect after a home invasion in the north end of the city left a resident seriously injured.

A man was inside his home in the area of Huron and Adelaide streets around 10 p.m. Tuesday when he heard a knock at the door. Recognizing an acquaintance, he opened the door and five men forced their way in and assaulted him, police said.

Personal property and cash were stolen before the men fled, police said, adding that the victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Four of the suspects were not known to the victim. The case was assigned to the London police street crime unit.
