VIRGINIA, USA — Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced Wednesday the allocation of over $48 million in federal funds to support infrastructure improvements at airports across the Commonwealth.

Five of the airports are in the Hampton Roads region and will be receiving nearly $10 million of those funds.

"These investments will help ensure that our airports are a safe, reliable engine of connectivity and economic growth for travelers and communities around the Commonwealth," the senators said in the announcement.

The breakdown for the Hampton Roads airports is as follows:

$4,706,743 to rehabilitate the General Aviation Apron pavement at Newport News-Williamsburg Airport (Newport News)

$1,604,509 to reconstruct a terminal entrance access road at Norfolk International Airport (
