LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - After the Texas House voted to approve the congressional redistricting map , Texas lawmakers, including a U.S. senator, are speaking out.

With the advancement of House Bill 4, one of the five districts undergoing changes is District 28, which includes Webb and Zapata counties.

In response to this development, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz expressed his approval of the change, stating that it is “good for the state of Texas.”

The focus has been on five congressional districts, including Districts 9, 28, 32 and 35, with District 28 consisting of several counties, including Webb and Zapata.

In early August, KGNS reached out to Texas House Representative Don McLaughlin, Representative Richard Pena Raymond and Texas Senator Judith Zaffirini, who represent our area.
