LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, 376 people have been charged in efforts to secure the southern border from August 15-21.

Cases include 18 people allegedly involved in human smuggling, 206 people charged with illegal entry, and 150 cases of people reentering after removal.

One incident from Laredo includes Kenneth Gamboa . On Friday, August 15, Gamboa allegedly drove a truck with 40 undocumented immigrants hiding in it.

Investigation revealed a fake wall in the storage area of the truck, hiding the undocumented people.

A total of 26 undocumented immigrants were charged with illegal reentry after removal.

Gamboa faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of human smuggling.
