DUNMORE, Pa. — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday afternoon for the grand opening of a new senior apartment building in Lackawanna County .

United Neighborhood Centers cut the ribbon on Bucktown Center in Dunmore. The newly-constructed four-story building along East Drinker Street holds 40 apartments for people 62 years old and up.

"This is great. Many of these people have family. One gal has grandchildren who said, 'I wanna come to your hotel.' She thinks her grandmother lives in a hotel," said Mj Igoe, Bucktown Center Resident.

Those involved with the project say it addresses a critical housing need in northeastern and central Pennsylvania while also contributing to the revitalization of the community.
