MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A century-old building is getting a second chance—and it might just help revive another local landmark.

Thanks to an EPA Brownfields Grant, the City of Monroe is cleaning and repurposing the Candy Company Building, originally constructed in 1920.

City officials say as crews cleared out the space, they uncovered antique items—from church pews and benches to architectural doors.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27, the items will be auctioned off online to the public.

The online auction closes at 5 p.m. on Sept. 12. The City of Monroe encourages the public to take part in this opportunity to to own a piece of Monroe’s history.
