Madisonville restaurant issues statement following giardia outbreak

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- A Madisonville restaurant at the center of a recent giardia outbreak says it is safe to eat there.

Last month, health department officials linked El Tapa-Tio to the stomach illness. In a statement on social media the owners say their restaurant is safe and that customer health remains their top priority.

The business says the testing they were told would happen never actually did. They say while the investigation continues the damage is already done and the restaurant is hanging on by a thread.

They thanked those in the community who stood by them.
