NEW ORLEANS — , criticism continues to mount over how long it took police to respond to the initial 911 call.
New Orleans Police Department Chief Anne Kirkpatrick acknowledged a delay in dispatching officers the day Vasquez went missing.
“When we realized there was a delay, I was like, we have to look into this,” Kirkpatrick said. “The most important thing is the child.”
According to NOPD’s 911 log, a call reporting Vasquez missing came in around 10 a.m. on Thursday. However, officers weren’t dispatched to the scene until approximately 3 p.m., five hours later.
“This child has been missing for over four hours,” said Cristine Rosales, a community organizer helping with the search. “I was told, ‘Ma’am, what do you want me to do? That call was already sent in.”
Kirkpatrick said the depar
