PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Monsoon storms made their way into the Valley, bringing much-needed rain and causing problems for electricity customers.
Phoenix Sky Harbor got measurable rain for the first time since July 2! The airport has gotten 0.04″ so far. For the 2025 monsoon, Sky Harbor has received 0.20″ of rain, which is well below normal.
The thunderstorms dropped a lot of rain in a short amount of time it causing some standing water on Interstate 17 in central Phoenix.
As of 9:00 p.m., about 6,700 APS customers are without power and more than 13,700 SRP customers don’t have power.
Strong winds were also a problem. Phoenix Sky Harbor saw wind gusts of nearly 70 mph around 8:15 p.m.
So far on Thursday night, Gold Canyon received 0.71″ of rain while Mesa got more than half an inch. Temp
