SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Country Day football team (0-2) was shut out in a home loss at Athens Academy, 28-0 at Saunders Field.
The contest was orginally scheduled for Friday, but was moved up 23 hours. However, Mother Nature delayed a home game at Country Day for the second straight week. This time, the contest was delayed two hours and 45 minutes.
Athens Academy opened the scoring in the first quarter. The visitors turned a completion on third down into a touchdown and never looked back.
Country Day will look to get the first win of the Joey Blackmore era on Aug. 29 at home against Porter-Gaud, a team out of South Carolina.
