Andrew Richardson pleaded guilty on first day of the trial

A father-of-two stabbed an armed intruder to death after being attacked with a crowbar in his own home, in the presence of his partner and children.

In a terrifying home invasion, a group of six masked men forced their way into the man's Selby home, assaulting him with a crowbar and fists. In a desperate bid to protect his family, he grappled with one of the assailants and, during the struggle, fatally stabbed the intruder.

As the remaining five assailants escaped in their vehicle, the distressed homeowner immediately dialled 999 and attempted to administer aid to the wounded intruder.
