CLEVELAND — Cleveland Metroparks Zoo says its newborn male giraffe calf is about to make his public debut.
The calf, who does not yet have a name, will appear Friday morning at the zoo's Ben Gogolick Giraffe Encounter, the zoo announced. He was born on Friday, Aug. 15, at about 8:30 a.m. to 14-year-old giraffe Tuli.
The zoo is also holding a public vote to name the newest member of the giraffe herd. Guests can CLICK HERE to make a donation and vote for one of these three options:
Zane (means 'noble')
Malik (means 'king')
Albert (a reference to Lake Albert, located in Uganda)
The naming vote will close at the end of the day on Tuesday, Sept. 2. All proceeds will go directly to the zoo's conservation efforts.
