A 39-year-old man who documented himself sexually abusing children was sentenced to nearly 50 years in prison on Thursday, after pleading guilty to several criminal charges in the middle of his trial earlier this year.

Justin Benoit, of Pittsfield, was sentenced to 46 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. He will be required to register as a sex offender following his release. Benoit was also ordered to pay restitution requested by his victims, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Leah Foley’s office said in a statement.

In May, during testimony from the government’s final witness at his trial, Benoit pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of child pornography, Foley’s office said.
