ORLEANS, Mass. —

Four people were sent to the hospital after three cars collided on a highway on Cape Cod Sunday morning, police said.

Responding officers found that the three cars were involved in two separate head-on collisions on Route 6A in Orleans. Latest Forecast

Ambulances from Orleans and nearby Cape Cod towns Brewster, Eastham and Harwich responded to the crash.

Three passengers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital and another was medically helicoptered to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Route 6A north was temporarily closed while officials investigated the incident.

The extent of the victim's injuries is currently unknown.
