PHOENIX — Emotions are still very fresh in the Valley after Tuesday’s deadly stabbing at Maryvale High School.
A candlelight vigil for the victim, Michael Montoya II is scheduled for Friday night on campus. It’s happening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Organizers are asking people to wear yellow and black to honor Montoya II.
Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo is from the Maryvale neighborhood. He said the attitude about violence needs to change.
"It's very hurtful," Gallardo said. "But you’ve got to ask yourself, ‘What did we do wrong? What happened?’ It’s not just Maryvale. It’s citywide. It’s statewide.”
