LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln man accused of threatening church staff when he was asked to leave was arrested on Thursday.
Lincoln Police responded just before 8:15 a.m. to a trespassing at St. Thomas Aquinas Church near 16th and Q streets.
Shane Powell, 40, had been found sleeping in the building. Church staff said when they asked him to leave the property, he jumped up, began screaming obscenities and threatening to kill them. He then walked off.
Police said Powell was belligerent and threatening toward officers when they contacted him a few blocks away.
He was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault in a threatening/menacing manner, trespassing and six warrants regarding similar incidents.
