A man has been arrested after a crash near an Esso petrol station in Haverhill has left a pedestrian seriously injured. Officers were called at around 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday, August 21), to the A143 Sturmer Road, to reports of a car towing a mini digger on a trailer hitting a male pedestrian.
The victim, a man in 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital after suffering serious injuries, police said. He is described as being in a serious but stable condition at this time. The road was closed for several hours, reopening at 9pm.
A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug-driving and was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
He was further arrested in custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been r
